The history enthusiast couple yearned for a Great Room that could strike a harmonious balance between sophistication and a touch of pre-war architectural charm, all while embracing contemporary influences. Well-educated and widely traveled, they were primarily inclined toward tradition but maintained open-minded and welcoming hearts—an embodiment of the family's essence we aimed to capture in our interior design.

While pleased to discover their extensive collection of finely curated art from their travels, some of the existing, outdated, ill-scaled furnishings presented a formidable design challenge. In the end, these challenges turned out to be the most gratifying aspects of the project and we were still able to use the client’s beloved damask chairs. By introducing contrasting wainscoting, and the formal, symmetrical placement of furnishings, the interiors began aligning itself with the couple's neo-classical architectural preferences, preserving its heritage with High-gloss, timeless Carrera marble and various aged brass elements, alongside a Frey wine skin painting – this all amplified the room's timeless appeal. Touches of leather trim, pops of vibrant color and a metallic wall covering introduced an unexpected twist, infusing a fresh and modern vibe.

Our clients enthusiastically share that this transformation is often the first thing that catches the eye of their visitors, a testament to the collaborative effort they played in selecting the design elements and fine-tuning the intricate details. We take immense pleasure when our clients actively engage in the design process, infusing their personal touch and heartfelt meaning into every facet.

Our Starting inspiration was the client’s coveted Plein Aire art piece, which reflects joy and brilliance, and also connects them to the artist. Colors of blush, periwinkle and ivory would be the perfect palette. These light reflections, contrasted with accents of brass, play a significant role in creating a serene environment, as well as being a conduit for light.
